Assisted Stretching using Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Re-education (PNR) is a technique that blends targeted stretching with principles from proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) to improve flexibility, range of motion, and muscle function. PNR involves a combination of passive stretching and muscle contractions, guided by a trained practitioner, to enhance the body's neuromuscular control and coordination. The practitioner may apply stretches, followed by brief muscle contractions, and then stretching again, that help activate the muscle spindle and Golgi tendon organs, optimizing muscle relaxation and lengthening.

Benefits include:
1. Improved Flexibility: By facilitating deeper muscle stretches, PNR can increase overall muscle length and flexibility.

2. Enhanced Range of Motion: Regular use of assisted stretching can help improve joint mobility and reduce stiffness.

3. Pain Reduction: PNR can help alleviate muscle tightness, spasms, and discomfort associated with poor posture or overuse.

4. Muscle Activation and Coordination: The technique promotes better neuromuscular communication, enhancing functional movement.

5. Injury Prevention: By improving muscle flexibility and joint range of motion, PNR can reduce the likelihood of strains or sprains.

6. Increased Blood Flow: The muscle contractions and stretches promote circulation, helping to flush out metabolic waste and improve recovery.

Dr. Chris has found that a combination of different types of adjustments or treatments works best with patients. His techniques are varied to be able to treat many different types of patients. He primarily treats patients with a diversified manual adjusting technique, but can do drop table and activator depending on medical needs, and patient preference. In addition, the muscles may need to addressed, with either a myofascial release, or exercises/stretching, or a combination of any of those treatments to help you feel better and get you on track to feeling your best.
